Paul comes to the Thread with a passion for real community and a earnest desire to know, live, and teach God's loving grace. Despite his admitted limitations, Paul is excited about wrestling with God's truth for his own needy soul, and explaining it to others in a way that is faithful, challenging, and relevant.

Born on the west coast of Canada, after living in British Columbia, Michigan, and New Jersey, Paul's family ended up in northwest Ohio when he was a teenager. There he embarrassed himself by performing ventriliquism routines for his friends' graduation parties. After high school he studied at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. In Chicago he embarrassed himself in snorkling in a pool full of coffee. While in Louisville, Paul was on staff at First Alliance Church, where he led the student and children's ministries, in addition to embarrassing himself by trying to unicycle on a half-pipe. Soon after that, Paul served a small community of faith in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, for a few years as their pastor. There he met his beautiful wife Laura, who has helped him not embarrass himself so much. Together, their lives are energized by good coffee, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and their cat Casey.

In addition to hanging out with Laura, studying the Bible, and embarrassing himself, Paul really enjoys reading good books of theology, going for a run, and looking forward to leisurely walking around his new neighborhood.

Paul's primary responsibilities are teaching at the Thread and leading the Discipleship Ministries at Calvary Baptist Church.
